What Confession is Like for a Priest
Preparing for Divine Mercy Sunday

February 26, 2023

Dear Ladies and Friends of TASTE,

    • This week, TASTE continues to meet at the Pallotti Chapel. Our speaker is Deacon Jim Munno as he continues our Lenten Series "Draw Close to God and He Will Draw Close to You (James 4:8); Talk entitled "Be Converted."
    • Small group discussions will be in person on Thursday based on Reflection Questions and other material found HERE. The Zoom small group continues to meet on Tuesday mornings (ZOOM).

  • OPENING — During our last session, Karen highlighted a number of Lenten activities.  In addition to those that you can attend in person, she mentioned two that we can easily access on-line.  First, she mentioned Fr Chris Alar's excellent HOMILY on Ash Wednesday where he highlighted what we can do during Lent and beyond to prepare for Mercy Sunday. During that homily, he recommended all of us say the 54-day Rosary NOVENA for Mercy.  Second, she mentioned an ARTICLE that Fr. Mike Schmitz wrote that describes what Confession is like for a Priest.  Not only are both of these worth your time, but you may want to share them with others.
  • LAST WEEK  — We welcomed Deacon Jim Munno as he began our Lenten series "Draw Close to God and He Will Draw Close to You" (James 4:8), with a talk entitled "Return To Me." He began with a brief overview of the next six weeks of our Lenten Journey. He stressed that Lent is a journey that takes us on an arc through repentance, return, rejoicing, and the resurrection. We begin with repentance and a return to the Lord (week 1), then conversion (week 2), then detestation of our sins (week 3), then we take a break and rejoice in anticipation of Laetare Sunday (week 4), then we take a spiritual look at death and life, taking a deeper look at what they are (week 5), and finally, we look at embracing the cross.  MORE
