January 9, 2022

Dear Ladies and Friends of TASTE,
  • Happy New Year!  We hope you had a blessed Christmas and happy, healthy New Year.
  • Given its potential impact on our program, we have been monitoring closely the increase in COVID cases especially due to Omicron.  It appears as though all students in PG County are moving to virtual learning through January 14th.  In spite of this, Pallotti High School management is graciously allowing us to continue to use their chapel.  We recognize that our members will have different preferences. Some may want to come to participate in small group sharing and to listen to the talk in person. Others (in abundance of caution) may choose to listen to the talk virtually after the session and may even virtually attend the small group sharing.  If anyone is not feeling well, experiencing COVID or other symptoms, or has had a close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid, we ask you not attend, but take advantage of listening to the talk on our website typically available the morning after the talk.  Here's a good website that describes specific systems for COVID-19, the Delta Variant, the Omicron Variant, and the Flu. We are grateful to Pallotti High School for affording us the ability to provide the flexibility to our members.
  • This may be a good time to remind everyone of our inclement weather policy as we had our first snow already. At this time, Taste will plan to meet in person unless Pallotti is closed for weather. Please check your email in the morning before heading to class if the weather is questionable. Read the following for more details. LINK
  • Sister Mary Michael Fox gave our final talk before the Christmas break entitled "Jesus, the Prince of Peace."  She started by asking “What is Peace” and “How do we get it?” She began answering these questions by reading various scriptural passages where God speaks of Peace and also by quoting St. Augustine — “Peace is tranquility from order."  For most of the rest of the talk, she elaborated on St. Thomas’ three areas of order: 1) Order within myself, 2) Order between me and God, and 3) Order between me and my neighbor.  We have tried to capture many of the gems she mentioned HERE including her scripture passages, quotes, practical advice, book recommendations, and songs.  Given the breadth of the wisdom she imparted in this talk, this talk is clearly worth listening to again and again and sharing it with others.
  • One of our TASTE members passed along that the Institute of Catholic Culture is offering a free online Theology 101 class taught by Dr. Jared Staudt from January 20th to June 23rd at 8PM.
